In writing children’s books, I’ve found my passion.

About

Born in an idyllic small town in rural Wisconsin, I still remember the smell of the barn when I helped my dad treat cows with milk fever. The warmth of the old house after spending hours wading through snow drifts taller than I was. Climbing on the hot summer roof to pelt my three younger siblings with water balloons. Wearing Green Bay Packers apparel to the little Lutheran church on the hill on crisp autumn Sundays. Playing little league and duck hunting with the boys – and beating them. Forging the strongest, longest friendships a tomboy could ask for.

I spent my early adult years in wild, wonderful Madison, Wisconsin. Mad-town, as it is called. Forty acres surrounded by reality. A place where minds stretched big, crimes cowered small, and crowds were quaint. I earned my journalism and law degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I’ll forever have the fierce heart and drive of a Badger.

Over the past twenty-five years, metro Atlanta has become my second home. My career as an attorney and banker has paid the bills.

But it is my family that fills my heart. I am an adoring wife of my soul mate and best friend. I’m a mama bear of two incredible children and two equally incredible bonus children. All are the loves of my life, along with our pit bull rescues.

For all these fifty-some years, the artist in me has begged for attention. Over the past decade, I’ve given her what time I had to write “THE BLESSING BOX: SLOG DOG’S CHRISTMAS CRUSADE.”

The character Hugh and the story’s events are based on the experiences of my son, who was diagnosed with autism in early college. This book is my love letter to Hugh, my son, and all survivors like them who march to the beat of their own drums and never give up. They are the real superheroes.

Telling their stories is my passion and privilege.

Best, Liv
